Sunali Andhare - Early Childhood Teacher
Sunali Andhare has a Masters degree in Mass Communications from Gujarat University in India along with early childhood education credits from De Anza College. Her prior teaching experiences include the Children�s Center of Stanford Community and the Knox Preschool in Atherton. She subscribes to the philosophy that childhood is a journey, not a race. She enjoys helping children discover their unique potential along this journey.
Jennifer
Christianson - Early Childhood Teacher
Jennifer Christianson
joined Laurelwood in 2002 backed by a BA in Child Development from
San Jose State. Along with her prior experience teaching young children
in dance and gymnastics, Jennifer has always had a love for working
with children. Jennifer thrives in the parent co-op environment
where she feels it is a privilege to work with preschoolers and
their families, and she appreciates the parents who want to be involved
in their children's schooling. In Jennifer's warm and inviting classroom
environment, she likes to emphasize the importance of the children's
social skills along with their education.
Sue
Dallas - Early Childhood Teacher
Laurelwood has been very fortunate to have Sue Dallas as a teacher
for over 30 years. The experience that Sue brings to the preschool
is invaluable. Her love of working with preschoolers was exemplified
when she retired briefly in 2003, only to return in 2005 because
she missed the kids so much. Sue brings a degree in Recreational
Education from San Jose State and years of practical experience
working with children. She runs her classroom with enthusiasm, a
passion for teaching preschoolers, and a unique rapport with three-year-olds and their parents that is vital in a co-op environment.
Sapna Gosalia - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Sapna Gosalia is a former art teacher who has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pune in India. While this is her first year at Laurelwood Preschool, she has taught preschool in the South Bay for the past two years. Her hobbies include art, painting, crafts, ceramics and reading which will enable her to explore creativity with her class. Sapna looks forward to encouraging a sense of trust, friendship and love among the children, parents and staff as she joins the Laurelwood Preschool team.
Tarini Kumar - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Tarini Kumar joined the Laurelwood Preschool teaching staff in 2007. She holds a Bachelors degree in English and Child Psychology and a Masters degree in English Literature. Tarini has 8 years of preschool teaching experience in the Bay Area and she especially enjoys teaching phonics and science. She believes that children thrive in a challenging environment. Her goal is to make pre-kindergarten fun while fostering the children’s confidence so that they are ready to do well when entering kindergarten.
Marta
Mouritsen - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Marta Mouritsen's
20 years of teaching at Laurelwood provides the preschool with a
sense of experience and tradition that resonates through every class.
When Marta started at the preschool in 1986 she brought with her
an MA in Speech Pathology and years of experience working as a speech
therapist and as a special education teacher. In the classroom she
provides a gentle yet structured environment, where she promotes
kindergarten readiness. Marta especially enjoys watching parents
and children work together in the co-op environment.
Rebecca Rasmussen - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Rebecca Rasmussen joined Laurelwood with seven years of teaching experience as an Elementary Special Education Teacher. She has always had a love for children and teaching. Rebecca is eager and excited to work with the Pre K students and parents in a co-op setting and feels that parent involvement is beneficial. She emphasizes readiness skills as well as a strong self-esteem and age-appropriate independence.
Melissa Vargas - Early Childhood Teacher
Melissa Vargas has a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Melissa taught preschool for four years while going through college, and then taught second grade for several years before taking a leave of absence to begin a family of her own. She enjoys providing a positive first school experience for all of her students. Her warm and energetic approach to teaching helps each child to feel comfortable and confident, and to see that learning is fun.
