Registration 2012/2013 School Year
Registration begins approximately 6-8 months prior to the beginning of the school year. Families who are currently enrolled in the preschool, as well as children and siblings of alumni, are given priority registration dates before open registration for new families. We encourage families to attend our Information Open House in January and schedule classroom observations before registration begins.
An Open House is held prior to open registration to afford new families the opportunity to visit the classrooms and have questions answered by teachers and Board members. Prospective members are also encouraged to observe classes and teachers in session by scheduling a visit with the parent volunteer, Recruiting Chairperson.
We encourage all prospective parents to read through the Parent Handbook before applying to see if Laurelwood Preschool is a good match for their family and child.
Classroom Observations
Classroom observations start in January 2013 and will be available through the end of May. Prospective members are encouraged to observe the classrooms (without their children) during school hours by scheduling an appointment with the Membership Chairperson. To Register
- Complete the registration form (front and back)
- Write a check for your last month's tuition plus the $65 registration fee ( $205 for EC and $240 for Pre-K, payable to Laurelwood Preschool)

The tuition payment made at the time of registration is your May 2013 tuition and will be refunded only if the registrar is notified by July 31, 2012 of your plans to drop from the preschool. There will be no exceptions.
*Please note registration is by mail only. Early postmarks (before your date) will be considered last.

Eligibility
- For the Early Childhood program (Tuesday/Thursday), children must be 3 by November 1, 2012.
- For the Pre-Kindergarten program (Monday/Wed./Friday), children must be 4 by November 1, 2012.
- A child may not be enrolled in the Early Childhood and Pre-Kindergarten programs concurrently.
- All children must be toilet trained prior to entrance into the school and verification of age by birth certificate will be required
Placement
Children are placed in classes by lottery, based on postmark dates. All the envelopes with the first postmark date are put into a bag. Each envelope is randomly pulled and the child is placed in a class. Laurelwood Preschool makes every effort to place families in their first choice of teacher or time. However, with 30 EC openings & 36 PK openings for each time, we are not always able to give families their first choice. When the demand does not allow this, the school reserves the right to place a child in a class that has openings. This applies to both priority and open registration.
Acceptance letters with Enrollment Form instructions are mailed to families in early March.
Families who were not placed in their first choice of teacher or time are automatically placed on our internal waitlist in the order their envelope was drawn, for either the time or teacher they requested, which ever took precedence on the registration form. If any opening become available, we first use the internal waitlist to fill the opening from students already admitted to our school, and then admit new students. The Business Manager will contact families if an opening in their first choice becomes available.
Placement is conditionally offered and your student’s placement at Laurelwood Preschool is secured only by the submission of ALL COMPLETED ENROLLMENT FORMS and the clearance of your check for both registration and tuition fees by the due date.
April & May Tuition are paid early as a deposit. If you attend the entire school year that money is used for your April & May tuition. If you withdraw early the tuition is forfeited. It may not be used for your “Last Months” tuition if you withdraw before April.

Enrollment 2012/2013 School Year
Upon acceptance into Laurelwood Preschool you will be required to download, complete, and mail-in all required preschool forms in May. This includes physical and immunization forms for your student and a negative TB test for all adults who will be working in the classroom on your assigned days.
Tuition for the 2012/2013 School Year
May 2013 Tuition Due with Registration fee & form
April 2013 Tuition Due with Cleaning Fee and Enrollment forms
September 2012 –March 2013 Tuition Due on the first of each month.
- Early Childhood Program: $140 per month
- Pre-Kindergarten Program: $175 per month
- Registration fee per family: $65
- Refundable Cleaning Fee: $30 (one per family, refunded at annual cleaning day)
In order to keep our tuition affordable, we encourage each family to participate in our fundraisers and/or make a tax-deductible donation in the amount of one month's tuition to the preschool. Donations are accepted any time. 100% of the money collected is returned to the classrooms.
May & April 2013 tuition will be refunded ONLY if the registrar is notified BEFORE July 31, 2012 of your plans to withdraw. No Exceptions.

If an opening becomes available for your child we will contact you using the phone number and/or email you submit. You will have 24 hours to notify the registrar that you are still interested in a position at Laurelwood Preschool before we move to the next family on the waiting list. At that time you must have your enrollment forms (available from this web site beginning March) completed and ready to submit with a new check to guarantee your spot. We suggest you prepare these forms now if you are serious about enrolling your child in Laurelwood Preschool.
