Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What days/times do you offer?
The Early Childhood program (three year old) classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays (AM) 8:30-10:45 or (PM) 11:30-1:45.
The Pre-Kindergarten program (four year old) classes are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (AM) 8:30-11:00 or (PM) 11:45-2:15.
  2. How much is the tuition?
Registration Fee is $60.00 per student and is non-refundable. EC classes are $100.00 per month. Pre-K classes are $130.00 per month. There is a one-time $30 Cleaning Deposit, collected Sept. 1st and refunded at the end of the year if parents participate in Cleaning Day.
  3. When do I need to pay the tuition?
Registration Fee and the first month’s tuition (September) need to be paid at the time of registration. Tuition is to be paid in full at the beginning of each month. It is our practice to collect the last month’s tuition (May) on Sept. 1st (the cleaning deposit is also collected at this time). Thus, your last tuition payment for the school year will be April.
  4. Opportunities to observe the classes?
Prospective members are encouraged to observe the classrooms (without their children) while they are in session. To schedule an appointment, contact the Membership Chairperson, Kelly Barirani, at 871-6958 starting December 1, 2008. Classroom observations will begin on January 7, 2009 and will be available through the end of May.
  5. Who is the best teacher?
Observations are encouraged to help you match one of our very qualified teachers to your child’s needs.
  6. Are we a part of Laurelwood Elementary School?
No. Laurelwood Preschool is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian cooperative organization and we are NOT part of the Santa Clara Unified School District.
  7. Will I need to work in my child’s class? How often?
Yes, as a parent co-op you are required to work in your child’s class approximately once every two weeks. A three month work schedule is distributed so that parents can plan accordingly.
  8. What is the adult/student ratio?
In EC, one teacher, 15 students, and 3 parents per class. In Pre-K, one teacher, 18 students, and three parents per class.
  9. Are snacks provided?
Parents take turns to provide healthy snacks for the children in the class. A snack schedule is provided at the same time as parent work schedules.
  10. Who may I call if I have more questions?
Please call (408) 241-8626 and leave a message. Your call will be returned.
